Staff Accountant

What You'll Do
As a key member of the accounting team, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the company's financial operations.
Responsibilities
Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and other month-end accounting transactions.
Perform bank, credit card, and general ledger account reconciliations.
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Support month-end and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
Analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and recommend solutions.
Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Support annual audits by preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
Evaluate and improve accounting procedures, workflows, and internal controls.
Collaborate with operational departments to resolve accounting and reporting issues.
Prepare financial reports and management reporting packages.
Utilize technology, automation tools, and reporting systems to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting best practices.
Experience managing month-end and year-end close processes.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, XLOOKUPs, and financial data analysis.
Strong proficiency with spreadsheets, ERP systems, and accounting software.
Comfortable leveraging technology, automation tools, and AI-enhanced solutions to improve reporting and productivity.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Preferred
CPA designation or active CPA candidate.
Construction industry accounting experience, including job costing and project-based accounting.
Experience supporting annual audits and financial statement preparation.
Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
Experience in a corporate accounting environment.
